200 Palestinians freed from Israeli prison

"Israeli prison releases 200 Palestinians"

According to a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, 200 Palestinian prisoners have been released from two Israeli prisons. Earlier, Hamas released four Israeli female soldiers.

This news was reported by the French news agency AFP on Saturday, January 25.

The report states that the prisoners were released from Israel's Ofer Prison in the West Bank and Ktzi'ot Prison in the Negev Desert. Among those freed are men and women of various ages.

The ceasefire in Gaza, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, took effect last Sunday, January 19. This marked the end of a 15-month-long conflict. Today, as part of the second phase, Palestinians and Israelis were released.

Earlier, in the first phase, Hamas released three hostages, and in return, Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners. Under the ceasefire agreement, Hamas will gradually release more hostages, and Israel will continue releasing Palestinian prisoners.

It is worth noting that on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas launched an attack on Israeli territory, killing nearly 1,200 people. They also took 251 hostages to Gaza. On the same day, Israeli forces began a brutal assault on the Gaza Strip.

Over the course of more than a year of conflict, more than 47,200 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, the majority of whom were civilians.
